Mixing of different types of substances in soil- which affects its natural qualities, and reduces its fertility- is called as soil pollution. Some environmentalists define soil pollution as – build-up of toxic chemical compounds, salts, pathogens or radioactive materials in soil that can affect plant and animal life adversely, is called as soil pollution.
Our environment today is facing a number of problems. All those problems are causing dangers to take shape against the existence of the whole biosphere of this planet. But who is behind all those problems? The answer is – M A N.
Deforestation contributes up to 20 percent of greenhouse gas emission which is more than the combined emission by all the cars, trucks, planes, boats and, trains of the world. Deforestation threatens our climate. Besides this, it threatens the livelihoods of 1.6 billion people who depend on forests for food and economic activities. They serve as habitats to rare and so far, undiscovered species of plants and animals. They also play a key role in maintaining water cycles and preventing floods and soil erosion. Hence, forests across the world need urgent measure of protection by all possible ways, may it be through alternatives to deforestation.
As per an assessment, about 600 million people inhabited urban areas of the world in the year 1950. But now urban areas have been recorded to be inhabited by about half of the total population.
Sometimes it so happens that serious and abrupt changes in weather condition ruin the entire crop. Thus, the hard work of the whole season goes in vain. What about the debt which he has to pay? On the other hand, market prices of his agriculture production often remain too less to support the economy of the farmer. These are the conditions under which a number of farmers in different states of India have been reported committed suicides.
Many people are working longer and harder, thinking that this will solve the problem of an ever-increasing workload. But they are still falling behind, becoming chronically overwhelmed, and burning out.
