The biosphere has been composed of a number of highly complex ecosystems such as forests, grasslands, oceans, estuaries, deserts etc. These ecosystems have gone under threat over the years due to intensive human pressure of serious pollutions, habitats destructions, land, water bodies, wetlands and coastal zones reclamations and so on.
The environment of our earth has a number of life zones that support birth and development of all types of organisms.
All the life zones of the earth are collectively called as Biosphere.
The biosphere vertically extends into the atmosphere up to about 10 km and downwards into the oceans up to a depth of about6.9 km.
About 1000J radiant energy comes to the earth from the sun. Out of this, only 10% of the total energy is used up by green plants in the process of Photosynthesis. Remaining 990J of energy escapes away into the atmosphere. 10J of energy is stored in the form of chemical energy in starch and sugars.
This word is usually applied for the non-human members of the Kingdom Animalia in animal taxonomy. However, the closer relatives of humans like mammals (having mammary glands) have been included in this term. Thus cows, bats, rats etc also are mammals.
Parental traits are transferred from one generation to other generation by means of chromosomes, DNA, or Genes.
Brain and Spinal cord together constitute the Nervous System. The nervous system receives information in the form of impulses from all parts of the body and integrates this information.
The conservation of environment implies the sustainable use as well as management of natural resources including wildlife, water, air, and soils of the earth.
Toucan is a cute and friendly bird with a small rounded tail and a long, red and amazing bill. It belongs to family Ramphastidae of zoological order Piciformes belonging to the genus Ramphastos.
There are 37 species in Ramphastidae and the largest birds are known as Toco toucan. The bird about which we are going to talk about right now is the Toucan – yes, the Ramphastos aerial. You might have seen some famous TV serials with Toucan as one of the leading characters on the National Geographic; or some famous children’s films with Toucan as here- like Rio-.
Living organisms capable of synthesizing food on their own are called as plants. They contain chlorophyll, the green magnesium compound which helps in trapping the energy from sun. This energy runs the process of photosynthesis through which glucose is basically synthesized in leaves and green stems on combining together the atmospheric carbon dioxide and water.
Images of a number of vegetables start sliding one by one just as a slide show on the screen of the mind as we enter into the winter session of the yearly cycle.
