When a new plant is developed or caused to develop through stem, root or leaf the method is called as vegetative reproduction. In other words, vegetative reproduction means- reproduction through anyone of the vegetative parts of the plant.
Modern development has caused a number of environmental problems at local, regional, national and international levels. Global Climate Change, depletion of ozone layer, increasing inequality, reduction in the means of livelihood for poor, scarcity of food, increasing number of disasters, extinction of species, falling underground water table etc. are some of the major environmental problems created by modern unsustainable development. These problems are challenging the existence of human race on this planet.
Our natural resources are known to have some specific qualities of their own. These qualities are known as natural qualities. It is due to specific natural qualities that different natural resources have been useful to us and to the whole biosphere. But now, the condition has changed considerably.
As environment is common heritage and property of all nations of the world, the science of environment should also combine relevant matter so as to promote the value and necessities of local, national and international co-operation in the prevention and solution of environmental problems across the globe.
The Environmental Calamities that shook the humanity during fifties and sixties were powerful enough to generate serious and widespread sense of responsibility among world nations towards the global environment. Some of these calamities include : The killer smog in New York and London which claimed 5000 lives in 1952; The mercury poisoning due to the consumption of mercury-contaminated seafood in Japan;
Ferns belong to Pteridophytes and grow on high altitudes in moist cold places. These don’t need any fertile soil. Since Ranchi or the most part of Jharkhand is located on high land its climate is rather different and somewhat similar to those area of mountains. The author reports here the two fern species that preferably grow in this region that too on old walls.
