Eco News

Jharkhand state of India has already been self sufficient in the area of Pisciculture. Now, the farmers of the state are working to make the state more progressive in the area of animal husbandry and to set new records for the state.

The tribal state of Jharkhand has long traditions of animal husbandry. It was never taken up as an occupation earlier. Keeping it at central place, Jharkhand has started Chief Minister’s Cattle Wealth Development Plan. The Plan incorporates different provisions of facilities and donations so as to enable the state and its farmers’ progress in the area.

Migration has remained a big problem due to heterogeneous geographical conditions of the state and lack of provisions for self employment. During the mid corona infections period thousands of Labourers returned from different states where they worked. To employ these Labourers has a great challenge before the state government.

The state started to employ those labourers in their own villages. This employment aimed at increasing the production of milk, meat and eggs to make the state self sufficient.

In the rural areas self employment is generated through animal husbandry also. It increases extra domestic income and the income of cattle rearing farmers. For this, plans and projects of the similar nature are integrated from different departments including animal husbandry department, welfare department and the department of rural development. The Chief Minister Cattle Wealth Development is an integrated project including different departments.

The Chief Ministers’ Cattle Wealth Development Project includes Goat Development Project, Pig Development Project, Backyard Layers’ Development Project, Poultry Development Project, Duck and Chicken Distribution Project, Distribution of the Milch Cattle Project, Distribution of Cows under Mini Dairy Project, Distribution of Chaff Cutter Project (both electric and hand operated), Help of Progressive Dairy Farmers, Distribution of Technical Input Materials etc. More than 50,000 farmers are to be benefitted by these plans.
